Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese anime TV series that aired from 1989–1996.  It is the sequel to the 1986 Dragon Ball series and is based on the manga series of the same name by Akira Toriyama.  The series follows a team of fighters led by Goku, a Saiyan warrior, as they use the Dragonballs to protect Earth from extraterrestrial enemies.
